Synthesia has introduced a new feature called AI Roleplay Sessions, expanding its AI video platform into live, interactive coaching for enterprise training. The tool allows employees to practice workplace conversations with AI avatars that respond in real time, providing feedback, scoring, and analytics to help companies measure training effectiveness.

The platform is designed for corporate training departments and employees who need to improve soft skills such as sales pitches, performance reviews, and customer service interactions. By simulating realistic conversations, the AI avatars can adapt their responses based on the employee's input, offering a safe environment for practice without the need for human role-play partners.

This matters because traditional role-play training is often costly, inconsistent, and difficult to scale across large organizations. Synthesia's solution aims to provide standardized, on-demand practice sessions that can be deployed globally, with built-in analytics to track progress and identify skill gaps. The company claims this can reduce training costs and improve retention of key communication skills.

Synthesia, which previously focused on generating AI videos from text, launched AI Roleplay Sessions on March 25, 2025. The feature is available to enterprise customers as an add-on to its existing platform. Pricing details were not disclosed, but the company says it is targeting large corporations with significant training needs.

The company has been expanding its AI capabilities since its founding in 2017, raising over $90 million in funding to date. Its earlier products allowed users to create AI-generated videos with digital avatars for training, marketing, and internal communications. The move into interactive role-play represents a shift from passive video consumption to active skill-building.

Looking ahead, Synthesia plans to integrate AI Roleplay Sessions with existing learning management systems and add more sophisticated avatar behaviors based on user feedback. The company also expects to release industry-specific scenarios for sectors like healthcare, finance, and retail in the coming months.
