Audi unveils 2027 Q9 full-size SUV flagship for US

Audi unveiled its new flagship, the 2027 Q9 full-size SUV, in Munich on 29 July 2026, marking the brand’s entry into a segment long dominated by the Cadillac Escalade.

Designed primarily for the US market, the Q9 offers substantially more rear passenger space than the Europe-focused Q7, which was redesigned in June 2026 and has a third row suited for occasional use.

At 209 inches long, 79.2 inches wide, and 71.4 inches tall, the Q9 is slightly smaller than an Escalade yet rides on a 123.5-inch wheelbase — 5.6 inches longer than the Q7 — freeing up extra legroom.

Curved body panels and subtle creases soften its stance, while optional OLED rear lights and a silhouette reminiscent of a scaled-up station wagon give it a distinctive look.

According to Ars Technica’s report from the unveiling, the Q9 appears less imposing than rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS or BMW X7.

The launch signals Audi’s push into a lucrative segment, though the company has not yet disclosed powertrain details or pricing.
