Ferrari Luce EV sales succeed despite online backlash
Ferrari’s first fully electric vehicle, the Luce, has achieved strong sales since its launch, defying early skepticism. The model has quickly sold out its initial production run, according to the company.
The Luce’s success directly affects Ferrari’s customer base and the broader luxury automotive market. Enthusiasts and critics who doubted an electric Ferrari’s appeal are now confronted with tangible demand, while competitors may reassess their own electrification strategies.
This matters because it signals that even traditional supercar buyers are embracing electric powertrains, challenging the notion that performance and heritage must rely on combustion engines. Ferrari’s ability to sell an EV at its premium price point could accelerate the industry’s shift toward electrification.
Ferrari has not disclosed exact sales figures, but the company confirmed on July 29, 2026 that the Luce’s first allocation is fully reserved. The model was unveiled earlier in 2026 as the marque’s inaugural battery-electric offering, promising the performance and exclusivity associated with the brand.
The Luce’s development was part of Ferrari’s broader electrification plan announced in 2022, which aimed for 40% of sales to be fully electric by 2030. The initial reception suggests the company is on track to meet that target, despite vocal online criticism when the car was first revealed.
Looking ahead, Ferrari is expected to ramp up Luce production to meet demand, though the company maintains its strategy of controlled scarcity. The positive market response may also encourage Ferrari to accelerate the rollout of additional electric models in the coming years.
