Spider-Man: Brand New Day grossed an estimated $355 million in its domestic opening weekend, Sony and Marvel reported on August 2, 2026, just $2 million shy of the record set by Avengers: Endgame in 2019.

The film opened on Friday, July 31, with $169.3 million including presales, followed by $101.5 million on Saturday, August 1. Sony projected an $84 million Sunday, August 2, bringing the total to the estimate. Final figures are due Monday, August 3.

It marks only the second time a Hollywood film has surpassed $300 million in a domestic opening weekend, behind Endgame’s $357 million.

An estimated 24.1 million moviegoers in the U.S. and Canada saw the film, according to EntTelligence. About 21% bought premium large-format tickets, which cost an average of $18.55 each.

“What this means for movie theaters cannot be overstated,” said Paul Dergarabedian, head of marketplace trends at Rentrak. He added that the debut sets up an incredible month of August and increases the likelihood that summer 2026 will be the biggest in revenue since 2019, surpassing $4 billion.

Despite not screening in IMAX — those screens were reserved for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey — other premium formats thrived. Dolby Cinema recorded its highest-grossing domestic weekend ever with $10 million from the film. Screen X took in $7 million and 4DX earned $5.2 million, both all-time domestic highs for parent CJ4DPlex.

Kevin Feige, producer and president of Marvel Studios, called the opening “truly phenomenal,” saying it reflects the enduring power of Marvel’s characters. He added that, as audiences saw, it “sets up exciting things to come.”
