Alien: Isolation 2, the sequel to Creative Assembly's 2014 survival horror game, was announced with a new protagonist and a shift to an outdoor world. Creative lead Alistair Hope revealed that the game began development around the 10th anniversary of the original, following years of fan demand. The story follows Blake, a Weyland-Yutani employee, who discovers a crashed vessel on a planet resembling LV-426 crossed with a windswept forest. That vessel is the jettisoned section of Sevastopol from the first game, carrying the alien that Amanda Ripley escaped. Hope said the team wanted a new story and location, necessitating a new lead, though he declined to share details beyond Blake's employer. The alien's behavior is being adapted for exterior hunting, with Hope noting that both player and alien must adapt to survive, while claustrophobic interiors will still create tension. Set months after the original, the sequel retains the low-fi sci-fi aesthetic of the first Alien film, and a Working Joe appears in the trailer, hinting at multiple threats. The new setting includes Kurosaki Station, a remote Weyland-Yutani outpost on a forbidding colony world, echoing the atmospheric role of Sevastopol.
