Xbox app launches on Hisense TVs, no console needed

Users can now play Xbox games on Hisense televisions without a console, Microsoft said on July 31, 2026. The Xbox app has been rolling out to VIDAA OS-powered sets since early July, targeting models released between 2024 and 2026. VIDAA OS, developed by Hisense, also powers select Toshiba and European-brand televisions.

The rollout extends a four-year effort that brought the app to Samsung, LG, and Amazon Fire TV devices. Microsoft said the move targets consumers who cannot afford or justify a dedicated console.

A Game Pass subscription is required; any tier except PC-only works. Essential costs $10 monthly, Premium $15, and Ultimate $23. The Ultimate plan grants a library of more than 500 games and day-one access to select new releases.

Gameplay needs an internet connection and an official Xbox or Bluetooth controller. Xbox is also testing free streaming of owned games, but that feature is currently available only to Insiders.

Microsoft said the rollout will continue. Users who have not yet received the app should update their TV software and then check the Games section on the Home screen.
