Samsung has expanded its foldable lineup with three new eighth-generation models: the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold8, and the Galaxy Z Flip8. The Fold8 Ultra is a new addition, positioned as a premium large-screen device, while the Fold8 and Flip8 are iterative updates to their predecessors. The Fold8 Ultra features a 7.6-inch main display and a 6.2-inch cover screen, similar to the Fold8, but with a thinner design and upgraded camera system. The Fold8 retains the same form factor as the Fold7 but with improved durability and a faster processor. The Flip8 continues the clamshell design with a 6.7-inch main screen and a 3.4-inch cover display, now with a larger battery. All three devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset and run Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1. Pre-orders begin on July 10, with general availability starting July 24. Pricing starts at $1,099 for the Flip8, $1,899 for the Fold8, and $2,199 for the Fold8 Ultra. The Fold8 Ultra is aimed at power users who want the best camera and thinnest build, while the Fold8 offers a balanced experience for productivity. The Flip8 targets those seeking a compact, stylish device. Samsung expects the Fold8 Ultra to compete with other premium foldables, though its higher price may limit adoption. The company plans to continue refining its foldable technology, with future models likely focusing on further reducing weight and improving durability.
