Hacker pleads guilty to stealing data from 165+ Snowflake customers

Connor Moucka, a 26-year-old Canadian, pleaded guilty to hacking more than 165 companies and stealing billions of records, the U.S. Justice Department announced on August 6, 2026. He and his co-conspirators exploited cloud storage provider Snowflake to gain access to dozens of its customers, including AT&T, Ticketmaster and LendingTree. The breach exposed more than 100 million AT&T customers' call and text records, as well as banking details, driver’s licenses and Social Security numbers from other victims.

Victims suffered $9.5 million in losses, while Moucka and his accomplices collected over $2.5 million in ransom payments, according to the DOJ. He also earned about $500,000 by selling stolen data on the BreachForums hacking forum.

W. Mike Herrington, an FBI special agent, called the tactics “calculated and predatory,” pointing to harm both to targeted companies and millions of consumers.

Moucka, known online as Waifu and Judische, was arrested in Canada in late 2024. Austin Larsen, a senior researcher at Google’s Mandiant, had described him as “one of the most consequential” hackers of 2024.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 27, 2026, where Moucka faces decades in prison.
