DJI Osmo Pocket 4P adds 3x telephoto lens, starting at £529

DJI launched the Osmo Pocket 4P on July 30, 2026, adding a second camera lens to its popular handheld gimbal. The new model features a 3x telephoto lens alongside the main camera, but will not be sold in the United States due to ongoing regulatory issues. In Europe, the Standard Combo costs £529 / €599, while the Vlog Combo is priced at £605 / €689. The device weighs 230g, offers up to 210 minutes of battery life, and includes 107GB of built-in storage with support for 1TB microSD cards. The telephoto lens uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, capable of 4K landscape or 3K portrait recording and 37-megapixel stills. The main camera has been upgraded with up to 17 stops of dynamic range and a 10-bit D Log 2 color profile. A new multi-person tracking feature and support for the FrameTap wireless remote are also included. The Pocket 4P competes with Insta360’s Luna Ultra, which offers 8K recording but is available in the US for $769.99. According to the review, the DJI model undercuts its rival on price while matching or exceeding it in quality, though the Luna Ultra remains the only option for US buyers. Xtra, a company suspected of being a DJI front, has delisted its similar Muse 2 Pro and refunded preorders, dimming hopes for a US release. The Pocket 4P’s telephoto delivers crisp details and optical bokeh, though a slight judder and color shift may occur when switching lenses during recording. The exposed lens design and lack of a gimbal clamp raise durability concerns. DJI claims a full charge takes 32 minutes, and the software experience is largely unchanged from the Pocket 4, aside from the new tracking mode. The FrameTap remote allows basic controls but cannot adjust resolution or frame rate. The review concludes that the Pocket 4P is a compelling upgrade for those who will use the telephoto, despite minor trade-offs in portability and battery life compared to the Pocket 4.
