A whale carcass washed ashore at Salt Marsh, Trelawny, on 18 September and drew sharks into shallow water. Jamaica's NEPA issued a public advisory on 19 September telling people to stay out of the sea, keep children and pets off the shoreline and leave the carcass alone.
