Anthropic signs $10B cloud deal with AI startup Volta

Anthropic signed a $10 billion deal with AI cloud startup Volta on August 4, 2026. The six-year agreement will provide cloud compute to the Claude maker.

The partnership involves Bitdeer, a crypto-mining company, which will help develop a data center in Norway. That facility will deliver a 133 megawatt capacity and will be fueled by Nvidia’s Vera Rubin systems, the chipmaker’s state-of-the-art AI chip architecture.

Volta is part of Nvidia’s Cloud Partner program, a consortium of AI cloud providers using Nvidia’s GPUs in their data centers. The startup had previously mentioned a deal with an AI lab but had not named the specific company, according to Bloomberg, which originally reported the agreement citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter.

Anthropic has aggressively expanded its compute capacity over the last several months as it wages a corporate battle with competitors. The company also recently announced new compute deals with SpaceX and Amazon.
