US police officer rescues man from burning car in Texas
A dramatic rescue was captured on video as a police officer in Texas pulled an unconscious man from a burning car moments before the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. The incident occurred on a highway in the city of Arlington, where the car had crashed and caught fire.
The officer, identified as Corporal Mike Smith of the Arlington Police Department, was responding to the crash scene when he noticed the driver was unresponsive inside the smoke-filled vehicle. Without hesitation, Smith broke the window, unbuckled the man, and dragged him to safety. The rescue was recorded by both the officer's bodycam and the dashcam of his patrol car.
The driver, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The quick action by Corporal Smith is credited with saving the man's life, as the car was fully consumed by flames within seconds after the rescue.
Arlington Police Chief Kevin Kolbye praised Smith's bravery, stating that the officer's training and instinct to act without regard for his own safety made the difference. The incident highlights the dangers that first responders face daily and the critical importance of rapid intervention in emergency situations.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No further details have been provided by authorities at this time.
