Nscale buys Anyscale for $1.65 billion to expand AI compute stack

British AI neocloud Nscale is acquiring software startup Anyscale for $1.65 billion, according to a Bloomberg report citing an anonymous source. The deal was reported on July 30, 2026. Anyscale, known for its platform built on the open-source Project Ray framework, helps companies scale AI workloads across data centers and servers. The acquisition will allow Nscale to offer workload management and scaling services, integrating Anyscale’s developer tools, observability, and orchestration capabilities into its vertically integrated compute stack. Anyscale stated that together, the companies can co-design the software layer and underlying infrastructure more effectively than either could alone. Nscale, which raised $2 billion in a Series C round in March 2026 at a $14.6 billion valuation, counts Nvidia, Nokia, Blue Owl, Dell, and Aker among its investors. Anyscale was valued at $1.38 billion in its 2022 Series C round and reported a 70% revenue increase in its most recent quarter compared to the previous sequential quarter. The startup’s approximately 200 employees will join Nscale, and Anyscale will continue operating under its own branding while serving existing customers.
