Lucid Recalls 27,185 Air Sedans Over Fire Risk

Lucid Motors is recalling 27,185 of its Air luxury sedans in the United States after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that an exterior lighting circuit could overheat and increase the risk of a fire, according to the agency's recall filing (campaign SR-26-06-0).

The recall covers model-year 2022 through 2026 Air sedans. NHTSA said the affected circuit lacks sufficient overcurrent protection, which can cause it to overheat. Beyond the fire risk, an overheated circuit could also knock out the center brake light or front lights, reducing visibility and increasing crash risk.

Lucid has already issued a free over-the-air software update to address the defect. The company told regulators that 20,719 of the affected vehicles had received the update as of the announcement, leaving roughly 6,400 vehicles still needing the fix. NHTSA is advising owners of unpatched vehicles to park outside and away from structures until the update installs.

The recall is Lucid's largest to date, covering more vehicles than the company delivered in all of 2025, when it handed over 15,841 cars.
