Amazon has announced that its upcoming series "Blade Runner 2099" will premiere on Prime Video on November 25, with all eight episodes released simultaneously. The streaming giant also released the first trailer for the show, which depicts a bleak futuristic Los Angeles, dramatic narration, and distinctive coats, all hallmarks of the Blade Runner franchise.

The series is set in the same dystopian universe as the original 1982 film and its 2017 sequel. It stars Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, with Silka Luisa serving as showrunner. Luisa previously worked on Apple TV+'s "Shining Girls." Original "Blade Runner" director Ridley Scott is an executive producer on the project.

The announcement follows yesterday's release of first-look images. The show represents Amazon's expansion into the Blade Runner universe, which has a dedicated fan base. The simultaneous release of all episodes suggests a binge-watching model, unlike the weekly rollout some streaming series use.
