NBCUniversal has struck a deal with YouTube that will bring Peacock Premium content to YouTube Premium subscribers in the U.S. at no extra cost starting early next year. The agreement, announced on July 30, 2026, will give YouTube Premium's 125 million global users access to Peacock's library, including shows like "Love Island USA" and the Real Housewives franchise, as well as live sports such as NFL and NBA games. The $15.99-per-month YouTube Premium price will remain unchanged. This marks a shift in NBCUniversal's strategy toward distribution partnerships, following a similar but differently structured deal with Apple TV late last year. For NBCUniversal, which is set to be spun off from Comcast next year, the goal is to reach a larger, younger audience on YouTube and boost advertising revenue. For YouTube, the deal strengthens its subscription offering and may aid its pursuit of live sports rights after losing out to Netflix for NFL games earlier this year. The move could set a precedent for future streaming aggregation deals, as companies like Netflix and Disney explore similar wholesale partnerships, according to public comments and media reports. However, NBCUniversal has not yet found acceptable terms with Netflix or Disney, according to people familiar with the matter. ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro, speaking at CNBC's Game Plan conference earlier this month, expressed interest in ingesting content within the ESPN app, likening it to a return to the cable bundle. The deal signals a potential third phase of the streaming wars focused on aggregation, with platforms like Netflix, Disney, YouTube, and Amazon positioned as aggregators, while others may fall into a licensing camp.
